If you did our beginner lessons series (highly recommended) this will continue on perfectly from where those lessons left off. If you haven’t done those lessons
make sure you’re up to speed on all the steps we learned in the beginner series (you can find a list on this page (scroll down to see the list):
Beginner Lessons 1-12.
Just as in the beginner series, I break each new step down slowly and clearly and go over it many times so you can really master the step and get comfortable with
it. This way you never feel rushed, or behind. That makes it a lot more fun! When I teach combinations (short dances) I teach those slowly as well - although I
will not go as slow as I did in the beginner series, however don’t worry I don’t speed up the teaching too much.
When I do combinations I review the footwork many times and we do the combinations many times with the music - not just once! Once is NEVER enough.
Expect a positive and lively atmosphere for the lessons - I’m an upbeat guy and that comes through in the videos. In fact one of the most common compliments I get
is about the positive energy and enthusiasm I bring to the lessons. I even had a student tell me they put my lessons on in the background while studying because
they were so motivating! See I told you tap dancing would make you smarter!
People all over the world just like you have enjoyed these lessons. I’ve even had a few tell me it helped them get out of a depression. I certainly can’t make any

I do have one warning for you though - don’t tap on concrete or on tile laid over top of concrete. Just the other day a lady emailed me that her back or knees were
hurting (I forget which) and should she get a tap board instead of tapping in the garage. YES! Don’t tap on the garage floor - it’s so bad for your body.
You don’t have to buy a fancy tap floor either - get some foam and put a piece of plywood on top of it - at least that way you have some cushion. If you’ve got a
hard wood floor at home you don’t mind scratching up (it will get dented and scratched - guaranteed!) Go ahead and tap on that - that’s assuming it’s not laid
directly over concrete without some type of elevated subfloor.
A lot of the customers I talk to do each lesson multiple times before moving on to the next. They tell me this really helps them cement the steps in their mind and
body and better prepares them for the next lesson.
Also these lessons build cumulatively. The steps you learn in the first lesson will show up in the second lesson and so on. So mastering each lesson makes you more
prepared for the ones to come.
Now of course some other customers are more free spirits just doing it for the fun of it and not super serious about getting the technique down perfectly and that
works great too. You really have the option to approach it the way that works best for you.
Having said that I do go into detail as far as how to do the steps technically correct. You will have all the info you need on that front - and if you ever have a
question that the videos don’t answer you can always email or call me. Some students even video themselves doing a step they’re having trouble with so I can
analyze it and give them feedback. One lady got her pullbacks that way (don’t worry if you don’t know what those are - you will learn them in the lessons)!
